“Bossy Love make the kind of R&B that their name promises: Sweet but direct, sexy but firmly in charge”
– The Fader
“Phenomenal live drumming, sugar-sweet vocals, exotically new and endlessly, incessantly, gratifying; laced with the kind of magic that defies description”
Bossy Love is the Glasgow based enigmatic pop duo comprised of singer Amandah Wilkinson (formally Operator Please) and John Ballie Jnr (former Dananananaykroyd lead). Known for their phenomenal live shows and hailed by critics as “ones to watch” following the release of several acclaimed singles, Bossy Love have quickly begun making a name for themselves.
From being featured by top tastemakers such as Dummy, Fader, Clash, Earmilk, and GOLDFLAKEPAINT, to securing airplay across BBC Radio 1Xtra, Beats 1 and Kiss FM, Bossy Love has generated a wealth of buzz in only a short amount of time. Their music has also been playlisted by major brands H&M, Topshop and Soccer AM, and the duo has been commissioned by Glasgow International Film Festival.
Bound to make waves in 2018, Bossy Love release their first single, ‘Talk To Me’ on 11th May ahead of the release of their debut EP this summer. An infectious beat with Amandah’s distinct vocals fuses attitude, funk and fun–it makes an impression. Bossy Love have spent the last six months building and running a recording studio in Glasgow where they have been preparing their next set of releases to unveil in their live shows.
Speaking on their upcoming single, Bossy Love shares, “Being heavy into 80s Janet, John made this beat and ‘Talk To Me’ happened. It’s about pushing through a difficult situation without rising to the bait and not feeling the need to settle for something that isn’t right for you.”
