With a loyal fan base of over 2.1 million followers on Instagram alone and following the success of her own ITVBe show, reality star turned country singer Megan McKenna looks set to cement herself as a serious musician with the unveiling of her debut album Story Of Me.
Written with the likes of Amy Wadge (Thinking Out Loud, Ed Sheeran) and Beth Neilson Chapman (This Kiss, Faith Hill). Megan is a ground-breaking artist who is pushing the boundaries of country music and moving it forward within the mainstream UK charts. The album pre-order has already hit number 1 in the iTunes Country pre-order chart and number 2 in the Bestselling pre-order main chart.
Having honed her sound into captivating country that fuses righteous lyrics with pop melodies, her music is both raw and honest. Each track is unique, effortlessly blending pop with country, giving it an unexpected edge that demands to be heard.
Story of Me follows previous singles High Heeled Shoes and Far Cry From Love, both of which knocked Taylor Swift and P!NK off of the No.1 & 2 spots on the main iTunes chart.
The album capitalises on her ability to engage smart songwriting, taking cues from the likes of country legend Carrie Underwood, and delivering a new release that articulates the roller coaster of emotions that define country music. It’s both uplifting, honest, and heartbreaking at the same time.
The lead track from the album is the heartfelt ballad Story Of Me which takes us on a journey of Megan’s life and is a heart-wrenching ballad which shows off Megan’s stunning vocal abilities. This contrasts to the more upbeat tracks like Odds which allows Megan to show off her sassy cool side.
Speaking on the release Megan says, “I’ve been working on this album for over a year now, it’s very personal to me and expresses my heartbreaks, ups and downs in my life and the pain and hurt I’ve been through. Music is my therapy and writing my feelings down in my songs has really helped me through.”
Megan had an amazing Summer supporting Michael Bublè on the main stage in Hyde Park at BST, Ronan Keating at The Castle Concerts in Rochester, an hour-long set at the Cornbury Music Festival, plus a sell-out tour at the end of last year, culminating with the final show at The Scala in London. Her own ITV2 Show There’s Something About Megan was the most watched programme on ITV on demand and her book Mouthy was listed in The Sunday Times Bestsellers.
Without any editorial support so far on Spotify, Megan’s track High Heeled Shoes has reached over a million streams, with her nearing almost three million streams across four tracks on Spotify.
Megan McKenna is daring on this release and lays it all on the line, with it proving to be one of her most beautifully crafted pieces to date.
