Born in 1989 in Gjøvik, Norway, ODA (pronounced “Oo-da”) grew up in a musical environment where her parents consistently played music from the eras of the 60´s and 70´s.
Growing up, her tastes soon developed into a more eclectic mix, where she found a love for the ethereal electronica of Sigur Rós, heartfelt lyrics of Bon Iver, and the indie energy of British bands such as Coldplay and Keane.
This pushed ODA to start writing her own songs – a lyrical landscape of modern soft Scandi-electro pop, with a focus on all-consuming heartache and relationships gone bad. This is still ODA´s favorite theme when writing songs and it’s a genre that fits perfectly with her gut wrenching and heart stabbing lyrics. You really can feel and taste the beautiful heartache in her songs as if you were there sitting with her in the flesh.
In recent years ODA has been a frequent vocalist on other artists tracks, including ‘Keep Me From You’ by Danish EDM artist MORTEN. In addition, she has attended several Norwegian television shows, guested a plethora of radio stations including P3, and landed on such playlists as New Music Friday in several countries and NY Pop, culminating in over 1.5 million streams on Spotify.
In 2018, ODA signed a record deal with Norwegian indie label MTG Music, which has resulted in a five track EP called ‘Hide’ that includes songs made in cooperation with Norwegian artist Jowst, among others.
Speaking of her new single, ‘Don’t You know’ ODA explains,
“’Don’t’ you know is about moving to a new town where no one knows you. It is about feeling restless and not finding a geographic footing”
