Big Yard

In the union of two seasoned producers and a veteran singer-songwriter emerges Big Yard, a dynamic collaboration creating a multifaceted fusion of contemporary rock, pop, smooth jazz, big band and R&B, spun with a modernised and sophisticated touch.

Singer-songwriter Darryl Scotti, accomplished musician and former guitarist for Columbia Recording Artists ‘Spiral Starecase’, toured alongside legends Ray Charles, Billy Joe Royal, and Wayne Cochran & The CC Riders, as well as producing for notable names, has teamed up with two phenomenally talented musicians and producers, Alex Chacon and Aaron Howard, to birth the band known as Big Yard alongside their record label Big Yard Nation in 2022 founded by Scotti, Chacon, Howard and Larry Antonino with Pablo Cruise.

Now based in Phoenix, Arizona the collective’s dedication and hard work culminates in their forthcoming debut single ‘Proof’ – a modernised country-rock anthem and genre-bending marvel that resonates universally. Infused with catchy melodies, inventive production, and Darryl’s soulful vocal charisma, ‘Proof’ showcases a captivating brand of music that lingers long after its end.

Navigating through pop-inspired segments and driven by crunchy guitar riffs, ‘Proof’ keeps listeners engaged with its fast-paced transitions, delivering an emotional roller coaster ride. Reminiscent of the energy of Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, the single encapsulates a poignant tale of a man entangled in the ache of lost love, bearing his soul through poignant lyrics: “Drinkin’ 90 Proof is only proof I still ain’t over you yet.”

Big Yard’s eclectic offering caters not just to contemporary enthusiasts but also to aficionados of legendary artists spanning from Steely Dan, The Eagles, Jackson Brown and Bruce Springsteen to Sting and Dire Straits, classic rock to country. Their debut promises a refreshing blend of irresistible hooks, pulsating beats, and stylised lyrical nuances, offering a diverse and rich listening experience.

Darryl says on the release “‘Drinkin 90 Proof is only proof I still ain’t over you yet’ signifies the battle for emotion and addiction and being stuck between the two”.

Released through Big Yard Nation, ‘Proof’ serves as the introductory chapter in Big Yard’s exciting and multi disciplined journey, positioning them as one of the breakout bands for 2024. With a promising debut album ‘Poets and Heroes’ in the pipeline for release this summer, the band sets the stage for a musical voyage that amalgamates diverse influences into a cohesive and electrifying sonic experience.
